THEM BLOODY KIDS release music video for 'Radical Animals' | Single Review

Dystopian guitars crescendo into an unsettling wave, threatening to break the shoreline before you can make it to the safety of the forest thicket. But even then, further danger lurks deeper with the government that harbour control over said forest, a government which are “falling from the path of righteousness” thanks to the leadership of a totalitarian tyrant.

London-based trio Them Bloody Kids will not seek refuge, surrender, or cower from the fight that has become their own. Instead, unleashing an animated music video for their single ‘Radical Animals,’ they tackle the issue of corruption and nuclear warfare head on, standing fearlessly against the powers that be and making their stance known.

Darren Maddox’s militant drums conjure sheep-like soldiers of war fighting a battle that is not their own, nor are they ever told what exactly it is that they are fighting for. For fear of social rejection and being branded as an enemy of the state, they blindly follow a leader not fit for purpose. “Open your eyes, chaos thrives,” pleads frontman Sebastian Moederle-Lumb, “in this world of emptiness and sin,” as fuzz metal guitars help to aid the aggressive message of distaste into a direction of no return.

The music video for ‘Radical Animals’ follows the revolutionary narrative of social and political uprising; “why would you drop a bomb? You’re killing everybody I love!” Vein’s sporadically panning bass lines mirror that of ricochetting machine gun fire, the chaotic amplification of passing bullets becoming deafening.
