Hard rock band The Unresolved release their latest single ‘Come and Take It,’ and if their previous offerings didn’t conjure early 70s NWOBHM vibes, then this track certainly does.
Hailing from the West Midlands, it’s no surprise that the song eerily lends it’s shape from Deep Purple’s ‘Highway Star,’ the retro prog influence bubbling to the surface with subtle synths and oscillators, and the time machine that is Thomas Gould’s vocals transporting the mind into the world of nostalgia.
Bouncy and full of vitality, the lyrics take on a pragmatically constructive view on those that try to knock you from your pedestal; “I will fight you so you better beware, I’ll take you down with me I promise, I swear // I’m not going anywhere, so come and take it if you dare.”
Complimented by a lick of cowbell from drummer Adam Gostick and warm honey-coated bass lines from Matt Cox, the track teasingly treats the listener to not one, but two expert guitar solos from Darren Bickerton. Succeeding a hearty scream paraded by Ghould, the latter solo plays the song out.
Whilst the band are still in their early days with unseasoned material, it’ll take no stretch of the imagination to predict ‘Come and Take It’ will lead The Unresolved into uncharted waters on the live scene.
