THE SLUMBERING - 'Daddy Doesn't Love You Right?' | Single Review

Clint Listing, the all-round talent behind artist name The Slumbering, presents us with a new video for the track entitled 'Daddy Doesn’t Love You Right?' Here, Clint shows off his skills mixing eerie sound effects to create a disturbing track that’s worthy of featuring in any terrifying haunted house movie.

The whole track is instrumental, with the only hint of vocals being the faintest of spooky whisperings layered in the background of the track. It certainly sounds like a new experimental vision when it comes to music. Clint himself has described the track as 'astral doom noise', exploring heavy, dark and suffocating tones. Indeed, that is the most apt way of describing it, the whole track evokes that image of the supernatural pushing through the barrier between life and death, between earth and the astral plane. The video itself reflects this horror movie narrative that is painted by this track. The video sees layers of film showing images of eerie, haunting nature scenery, with flashes of gore and scientific drawings of men and brains over the top.

The whole experience is somewhat confusing and feels almost meaningless, and yet that’s exactly what makes it work. You are left wondering what all these images mean, what do these sounds represent, what is the story here? And perhaps that’s the beauty of it, you can create your own horrific narrative here. At the very least as an instrumental piece it’s absolutely perfect background noise if you like haunting music to get through your work!

The Slumbering's 'Daddy Doesn't Love You Right?' is available across all streaming platforms now.
