A heavy build-up of battle clad drums and elevating guitars spiral into a dystopian frenzy of double bass attacks and a deadly war cry. ‘Gravity’ is the latest single from UK rockers Skarlett Riot, their bittersweet blend of beautiful vocals from Skarlett and beastly musicality from guitarist Danny, bassist Tim, and drummer Luke is the musical equivalent of Beauty and the Beast.
Taken as the title track from their upcoming third album, the marriage of clean vocals and an uncharted territory of rough screams act as a satisfying balance of ying and yang. With a Bullet for my Valentine styled intro, the metalcore element injects an insatiable hunger into the track, the lyrics of “this fire in my eyes is burning bright, ready to ignite” radiating ideologies of self-perseverance, positivity, and persistence. "Gravity is about pushing through the difficult times in life. Be the fuel to your own fire. Block out any negativity and be who you want to be, not what others want to see.”
Melodic riffs and an annihilating breakdown coupled with anthemic and inclusive choruses project a Black Veil Brides atmosphere that’ll see Skarlett Riot vanquish their already conquered track record of appearances at Download Festival, Bloodstock, and Leeds and Reading Festival.
‘Gravity’ opens up a new door for the metal quartet to leap, bound, headbang and shred through, a gripping journey that’ll surely leave a trail of new listeners in their wake.
