REACH - 'The Law (Zardonic Mix)'

Music at its crux has always been about rejecting the status quo and pushing the envelope. There are times throughout history where this has created landmark moments and some we’d gladly put behind us. Swedish trio Reach once again embark on a journey to the experimental frontier with the Zardonic Mix of 2020 single ‘The Law’.

The original carnation of ‘The Law’ found itself becoming an anthem across Sweden’s American Football scene. With its adrenaline boosting beats and lyrics of intimidation, ‘The Law’ wound its way on to many a gym playlist. For the Zardonic Mix, Reach wipe the slate clean and collaborate with Royal Swedish Opera Prima Ballerina, Oscar Salomonsson to create a mesmerising video for a deliciously sexy drum n’ bass infused anthem.

Ludvig Turner’s distorted vocals ring like static stating ‘I am the law’ over a seductive pulsing beat. This mix is positively electric, charged with the faux god complex we all employ when the endorphins kick in after a gruelling work out. ‘I’m the creator of chaos’ houses Patrick Stump power which, when coupled with the scintillating sway of the beat, awakens a prowess within us, urging us to tap into our most taboo and base selves.

The anarchist nature of the chorus promotes dynamic vines along the veins of The Prodigy. Turner’s melodically velveteen voice dropping an apology for an ‘inconvenient end to your world’ over hype music which wouldn’t be out of place in a nightclub. The other end of the spectrum soon follows as hazy synths begin the reprieve. Alluringly dark synths prompt mental images of sweaty bodies catching their breath, naturally fluid motions become akin to stop notion as if moving through strobe lights. Before long, we snap back to reality and fall into our role as Reach’smarionettes’ who bend to the will of ‘The Law’.

Both incantations of 'The Law' are available now across all major streaming platforms, and the video featuring Oscar Salomonsson is now on YouTube.
