There’s a fine line between confidence and arrogance. Carefully treading that line makes for some great leaders of the free world. However, diving head first into arrogance breeds narcissism and it’s taking that narcissistic nature to the world’s stage to produce a twisted, self-serving agenda that fuels the aggressive new single ‘Please Disperse’ from Belgian metal band Primal Creation.
‘Please Disperse’, the first single from upcoming sophomore album ‘News Feed’, holds a mirror to not only the true bullying nature of those in power, but also to us as a society for sitting in the ‘happy blind spot/ To ignore the unfolding plot’. Huge rabid growls from frontman Koen rise from the belly of the beast as a tirade of gunslinging riffs splurge across the hellish aural landscape. Images of malevolent leaders flash across the mind’s eye, slivers of Lucifer himself smirking and sniggering ‘I’m all you ever wanted/ Make way for the greatest’. As if blasting through a megaphone, the inauguration speech of self-adulation plays out over slower guitars and drums of impending doom.
Primal Creation settle into their frantic groove, utilising their trademark aggression to fuel the fire of their own agenda of calling today’s society out on its bullshit. ‘Please Disperse’ hosts a cacophony of grandstanding statements such as ‘I have been your saviour in these burning times’, but as the five-piece lures you further inside the tunnel of terror with trickles of eviscerating solos and death growls which could draw a death rattle from your own chest, they also force you to question if those promises of ‘relief’ and salvation are as empty as the person delivering them.
