When a band is named something like Penthouse, a song about all things sex and how great it is isn’t that far behind. These cheeky chappy Medway rockers don’t disappoint with that assumption with their rather aptly named single ‘S.E.X.’.
Formed in 2017, the Kent based quartet; Ben & Zac Schulze, Sam Shepherd, and Liam Ponder, pay homage to pop punk heavyweights of old Sum 41 with happy-go-lucky guitar hooks, tongue in cheek lyrics, and a drum beat that is almost a challenge to see if your bedroom activity can keep up with it.
‘I was all about sex, you were all about sex’ is direct and to the point, much like the sometimes simplistic casual affair. ‘The way you talk to me, it thrills me to say the least’ captures that excitement of a new arrangement or relationship in its early days when everyone’s still getting to know each other’s physical profanities. It’s the essence of this which drives this catchy little number with its cheeky guitar solo and playful bass lines. Penthouse’s backing vocals give off the energy of the dreaded ‘boys locker room’ though with none of the negative connotation. After all, sex is fun, but sex with consent is a hell of a lot better.
‘S.E.X.’ is a real life, in the moment and enjoy what you have song; why waste time with
‘convoluted conversation’ when there’s a whole lotta sex to be had? Next time you’re presented with an opportunity to experience some sexual felicity, maybe pop this on in the background and see where it takes you… and use protection.
‘S.E.X.’ is available now across all streaming platforms. For the latest Penthouse news, including next releases and tour dates, you can follow their social medias linked below or click here.
