JORDAN RED - 'Freak Show' | Single Review

Whichever way you look at it, all journalism has a spin on it. Positive. Negative. Whatever is conducive to the publication or broadcast. Some may even argue “real” journalism doesn’t exist any more. Aligning themselves with that particular camp is Jordan Red who’ve released new single ‘Freak Show’.

The fifth release from upcoming album Hands That Built The World, ‘Freak Show’ brings pummelling drums and ear-worm worth riffs together for a high energy, feel good time.

Dan Leigh pulls no punches as his distinctly punk infused vocals accuse “So what you’re saying is get in line”. Disillusioned by the reams of propaganda and scaremongering churned out by the media, Jordan Red invite us to come on down and “hang out at the freak show”. Tonight’s entertainment? Laughing at the lunacy of some of the headlines or reports that regularly bombard us.

Leigh is joined by Dan Baker (guitar), Connor O’Keefe (bass), and Dave Fee (drums) for the party of the hour. “We’ve got a show for you” cries the ringmaster of this particular circus. Catchy vocal hooks soon have us chained to the rhythm. Fully fledged members of Jordan Red’s clan, we long for that swell of guitars to lead us into the chorus so we can sing “get your freaks from the TV” at the top of our lungs.

By the time Baker’s guitar screams at ‘Freak Show’’s end, we find ourselves asking when the next act of rebellion is coming, hoping we don’t have to wait too long.

‘Freak Show’ is available now across all major streaming platforms. For the latest news from the Jordan Red camp, including new releases and tour dates, you can visit their website or follow their social media linked below.
