FINAL TRANSMISSION - 'The Road' | Single Review

There is nothing more resilient than the human spirit. It takes a different kind of strength to pull yourself out of a hole and set yourself back on the road you’re travelling. Bury St Edmunds based rock band Final Transmission pick us up and dust us off with uplifting new single ‘The Road’.

Adam Telford-Dinsmore (vocals) joined Connor Wooler (lead guitar), Jordan Cameron (rhythm guitar), Aidan Wooler (bass), and Tom McCallister (drums) in 2018, his brand of pop-punk-with-an-edge vocals being a perfect fit for Final Transmission.

With a pop of drums, we’re catapulted into an intro that feels as if it’s been going for a while already. From the onset, ‘The Road’ is stylised yet still raw. The quintet’s edges may be clean but are still sharp enough to cut you to the core. Sadness seems to prevail with a progression of hard and dark chords setting the scene for brooding “They always said I’m not enough”. Glimpses of bass slide through the verses, adding fuel to the internal fire of wanting to sort your life out.

When the chorus kicks in, the flame within Final Transmission becomes an inferno. “The choices we make will guide the way” pleads for better life choices. At its core ‘The Road’ reminds us life is what we make it. On that premise, the single transforms from depressed husk to reformed butterfly from the chrysalis.

‘The Road’ pulls from natural reserves of grit with its combination of haunting instrumentals and screams into the void. Final Transmission rally around and send themselves speeding along the road which has the potential to take them incredibly far.

‘The Road’ is available now across all major streaming platforms. For the latest Final Transmission news, including new releases and tour dates, follow their Facebook linked below.
