BORN OF OSIRIS - 'Angel or Alien' | Single Review

Whether we want to admit it or not, no man is an island. As humans, we crave connections. Not passing acquaintances or temporary friends but real soul igniting connections. Trying to force that with the wrong person will ultimately destroy us. Chronicling their own failure to connect, Born Of Osiris released their latest single ‘Angel Or Alien’.

Pulled from their upcoming sixth album of the same name due July 2nd, the Illinois natives immediately opt for the other worldly. Riffs of electronica remind us of 1986 film Flight Of The Navigator. Like any other being on the planet, Born Of Osiris seek to understand the nature of human relationships. Finding the right people to relate to is a high we all chase, the ones we know “make me feel like an addict”.

Rolling drums and deep growls feel characteristically metal. Yet keyboard elements dominate the song, disengaging our mind from the rifftastic. This duality of the angel and alien rages on throughout, but these scales feel weighted. Clean vocals are so quiet they slip under the radar. “Sometimes I needed control of my spirit and my soul” speaks to a confusion we have all felt. As well as that, it also tells of the loss of vision in this song.

‘Angel Or Alien’ is available now across all major streaming platforms. For the latest Born Of Osiris news, including pre-order information for the album and tour dates, visit their site here or follow their social media linked below.
