BEYOND EXTINCTION - 'Parasitic' | Single Review

It’s not fair is it? Bad things happen to good people and the bad people will seldom suffer their deserved consequences, often times incurring doubt in any possibility of a higher power and the alleged good nature of the universe. When the time comes for the world to burst into flames in preparation for the next cycle of life, you can almost bet that the parasitic cockroaches will be the ones to remain scurrying through the ash and debris as the embers of their destruction fall around them.

Following on from their debut EP, The Fatal Flaws of Humankind, Essex death metal band Beyond Extinction are not done with exercising their rage and distaste for the lack of repercussions that fail to befall those who warrant it the most, as new single ‘Parasitic’ spits gasoline with a lit match at the ready. Showing no signs of mercy or forgiveness, vocalist Jasper Harmer, lead guitarist Zach Scott, rhythm guitarist Jude Bennett, bassist Niall Ivie, and drummer Niall Oreo, take no prisoners.

Apocalyptically slow drums and djent guitars consume the outer atmosphere, your consciousness removed from itself like an outer body experience as you watch the rapture unfurl around you in agonising slow motion. The only hint of compassion comes in the form of Oreo’s machine gun drumming like an instant slaughter that’ll put you out of your misery, but not before making you watch the loved ones unlucky enough to be close to you suffer first.

The only hope of survival is to “bite the throat, kill the host. The noose is tied, paralysed,” informs Harmer, his demonic vocals taking on a metamorphosis since their last appearance and expanding into higher territories. With the youngest member of the band only just coming of age, now bringing the average age up to just 18 years old, the already astounding dose of talent and speed of progress this quintet exhibit will certainly land them the winning spot to perform on the Bloodstock stage when they compete at Metal to the Masses on 3rd July.

‘Parasitic’ is available to listen to across all streaming platforms now, and to stay up to date with touring and band information, including how you can support Beyond Extinction with their journey to Bloodstock, head to their official website here or follow their social medias linked below.
