With all the evil, malicious, and ill-intentioned going-ons in the world, it can be hard to find a reason to drag yourself out of bed in the dark and dreary mornings. But the hard rock quartet that make up A New Tomorrow have conjured light from within the grey landscape of their London surroundings with a soft, elegant, and cinematic take on their self-titled latest single ‘A New Tomorrow.’
Michael Kew swaps his clean and uplifting guitar work for a graceful, pensive piano that compliments the bright, crisp vocals of Alessio Garavello, a dynamic duo akin to the partnership of Alter Bridge’s Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti. With an accompanying music video fit for a king, (or fit for a song that shares your namesake,) the track pulls influence from the soul-stirring ballads that made melodic rock so captivating.
As the chorus approaches the expectation of a relieving pay-off falls short, and instead the piano takes a back seat to amplify the profound chorus lyrics “faith is all we need to gather all our energy, to believe in a dream called A New Tomorrow,” filling the void you never knew you had. By the second chorus however, a string section and Andrea Lonardi’s bass lines create a full crescendo of cascading confidence full of hope and ambition.
The stripped down divinity of ‘A New Tomorrow’ proves itself to be a invaluable addition to the bands’ repertoire and upcoming second album, rather than the minor B-side it was originally fated for. Much like salt and pepper, left and right, and sugar and spice, the two differing versions of ‘A New Tomorrow’ go hand in hand as a continuity of emotion.
